Blueberry Lake Winter Holiday (8 Days / 7 Nights)

Winter is about more than just skiing. Blueberry Lake Resort comprises 300 private acres with numerous winter activities on offer. Guests can choose from on-site ice-skating on a floodlit rink or on the “figure-of-eight” on Blueberry Lake itself. They can explore the resort’s 15 km of well-maintained woodland trails on cross-country skis or snow-shoes. Winter activity packages at Blueberry Lake include such traditional Canadian pursuits as dog-sledding excursions, horse sleigh or horse back rides through the snowy forests and fields, guided ice fishing and snowshoeing expeditions. Adrenalin junkies can get their fix with guided snow-mobile tours, ATV tours or a helicopter ride over the frozen wilderness. For the less adventurous there is the magnificent lakeside spa, offering massages, aesthetic treatments, a traditional cedar sauna, a steam room and an exquisite relaxation pool with stunning views out over the lake.

Resort amenities include: Lac aux Bleuets Restaurant and Bar, indoor-outdoor spa, fully equipped gym, massage treatment rooms and an outdoor pool. Free activities include: Tennis, hiking, biking, swimming, canoeing and kayaking and cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, access to 10 km of snow trails, ice-skating on private rink or lake.

Guests can take free shuttle to Mont Tremblant for skiing, take advantage of free on site activities or spend the day relaxing in the spa.
Day 4 Half Day Dog-Sledding Adventure
Before hitting the trails, guests help harness the huskies, get to know their team of dogs and receive basic instructions on how to drive the team and handle the sled.
Day 5 Half Day Ice-Fishing or tubing, Half Day Guided Snow Shoeing
In the morning choose between ice-fishing or tubing. Learn the basic techniques of icefishing and try your luck on a frozen Laurentian lake or opt for a little more action and whistle down the tracks on an inflatable inner tube. In the afternoon, explore Blueberry Lake’s forested trails on a guided snowshoeing tour.
Day 6 Free Day
Guests can take free shuttle to Mont Tremblant for skiing, take advantage of free on site activities or spend the day relaxing in the spa.
Day 7 Cross-Country Skiing
Introduction to cross-country skiing technique and guided tour through Blueberry Lake’s 25 km of forested trails.

    Day 1 Montreal To Saint Paulin
    A private transfer will pick you up from downtown Montreal or the airport and take you on a 2-hour leisurely drive to the Auberge le Baluchon in Saint Paulin. Discover a sense of Quebec history as you encounter an old style windmill, chapel, and log buildings set in a romantic winter landscape.
    Day 2 Dog-Sledding
    Today you will enjoy the thrill of being pulled by dogsled along snow covered trails. Gliding at full speed you will travel a distance of 8 km under the skilful guidance of the dog trainer for 35-45 minutes. Later, with the help of the outdoor activities desk and on site maps, explore the area by going snowshoeing or cross country skiing.
    Day 3 Sleigh Riding
    An attentive guide will share the regions many natural secrets as you travel by sleigh through the fields around site for 45 minutes. In the afternoon you may choose to go tobogganing, ice skating, hiking, or swimming in the indoor pool.
    Day 4 Saint Paulin To Montreal

    A private transfer returns you to the airport or downtown Montreal.

    Day 1 Montreal To St Alexis Des Monts
    A private transfer will pick you up from downtown Montreal or the airport and take you on a 2-hour leisurely drive to the Auberge Lac a l’Eau Claire near St Alexis des Monts. The rest of the day is free for you to enjoy the many winter activities at the lodge.
    Day 2 Dog-Sledding
    Listen to the sleds sliding on the snow, feel the cold crisp air and wind as you travel through the wild. Today you will enjoy the thrill of being pulled by dogsled under the skilful guidance of the dog trainer for one hour.
    Day 3 Ice Fishing
    This guided activity allows you to discover this northern fishing method, its secrets and techniques. Your fishing hole will be drilled, instructions provided, and you will be free to fish for the remainder of the day.

    Seal Observation on the Magdalen Islands (4 Days / 3 Nights)

    In the heart of winter, snow and ice combine to transform the Islands into a living lunar landscape. Starting at the end of the month of February, hundreds of thousands of harp seals (the nomads of the icy sea) make their way to the shores surrounding the archipelago to give birth to their pups. For 2 to 3 weeks, adult seals and their newborns can be observed in their natural habitat: a spectacular landscape of snow and ice brought to life by the presence of this enormous troop for as far as the eyes can see. The Château Madelinot hotel offers many different packages including a helicopter excursion to the shores, giving you the chance to get up-close to the little seal pups (whitecoats) and admire how the newborns blend in with the snowy shores. Truly an unbelievable experience!

    The seal watching activity is very dependant on weather conditions. If flights must be delayed or cancelled, a list will be posted and the order will be determined based on the time that each person reserved their excursion. Everyone will be informed of the changes. If your excursion is permanently cancelled and/or you are unable to make it at another time, this portion of your package will be completely reimbursed.
    How To Get There:
    Two airline companies offer daily flights to the Magdalen Islands. Departures are available from the following cities:
    Quebec City, Montreal, Mont-Joli, Gaspé.
    The airport (YGR) is situated on the Havre-aux-Maisons Island, about 9 km from the Château Madelinot.

    A French Winter in the Saguenay Region

    Discover an authentic winter experience in a francophone region of Quebec. Enjoy a variety of winter activities including snowmobiling, dog sledding, snowshoeing and ice fishing. The Auberge des Battures is conveniently located just 5 minutes from the township, but you’ll feel a world away in this charming Inn setting between the Saguenay Fjord and the forest.

    Day 1 Arrive Bagotville
    Upon arrival at Bagotville airport, collect your rental vehicle and drive the short distance to the serenity of the Saguenay region of Quebec. Day 2 Snowmobile Tour
    Enjoy an 8-hour ride by snowmobile into the Reserve Faunique de Laurentides. A private local guide will take you into the wilderness of the reserve riding through a variety of terrain such as forests, mountains and fjord.
    Day 3 Dog-sledding
    Today you will be introduced to your pack of dogs and learn how to ‘mush’, before embarking on an exhilarating adventure into the forests of the Saguenay region. You will enjoy a 2 hour ride in the morning, a picnic lunch, followed by a second 2 hour ride in the afternoon.
    Day 4 Snowshoeing and Ice Fishing
    Explore the area and partake in unique winter activities. In the morning don your snowshoes and head outside to enjoy the sleeping nature around you. In the afternoon, your fishing hole will be drilled on the Fjord ice field, your guide will be there to assist you through-out the afternoon.
    Day 5 Depart Bagotville
    Depart the Auberge for Bagotville airport and return your rental car.

    Day 3 Ice Hotel Tour
    Transfer today to the Ice Hotel for a 30 minute guided tour, after the tour you can stay up to the last shuttle departure to enjoy the amenities of the hotel and surrounding area.

    Day 1: Arrive Whitehorse
    Transfer included from the airport to your hotel in downtown Whitehorse where you’ll be staying for the duration of this tour. All stores, banks and important sights are within easy walking distance of the hotel, so you may explore this lively northern town on your own.
    Day 2: Full Day Sightseeing
    Today we’ll show you the capital of the Yukon and the surroundings to give you a first impression of this wonderful country: During the city tour you’ll see the old train station of the White Pass & Yukon Route railroad, the Log Skyscraper, old Log Church and the paddle wheeler SS Klondike. We’ll also show you some residential areas and we’ll stop at the Visitors Reception Centre. On the way to the Takhini Hot Springs we’ll stop at the Wildlife Preserve where you’ll see most of the wildlife seen in the Yukon, such as Moose, Caribou, Bison, Dall Sheep, Big Horn Sheep, Musk Oxen and others. Lunch at Takhini Hot Springs and time for a leisurely swim in the hot waters. After our return to Whitehorse you will participate in a 20 minute sightseeing flight over the Whitehorse area with beautiful views over Lake Labarge and Marsh Lake.
    Day 3: Full Day Snow Mobiling
    This is the day for our snowmobiling adventure: Our van will take us up to Fish Lake, just over half an hour away from the hotel. Here we’ll get our instructions about snowmobile safety and any further instructions we’ll need and off we are across the lake and into some of the most beautiful mountains you may imagine! Lunch will be served on the trail and by late afternoon we’ll return to Whitehorse.
    Day 4: Full Day Dog Sledding
    Another highlight of this tour will be this full day dog sledding tour along the Takhini River and into the Ibex Valley west of Whitehorse. First we’ll be introduced to the many dogs and instructions will be given about mushing and safety on the trail. Then we’ll be assigned our team of from 4 to 6 dogs and off we go! We’ll follow well prepared trails and our guides will make sure that we are always in control of our teams. Lunch will be served along the trail when both, we and the dogs need a well deserved break. By late afternoon we’ll return to the kennel for a mug of coffee or hot chocolate before we’ll return to the hotel.
    Day 5: Transfer to Whitehorse Airport
    You’ll start your next adventure in the Yukon or we’ll bring you to the airport in time for your flight home.

    Day 2: Full Day Sightseeing
    Today we’ll show you the capital of the Yukon and the surroundings to give you a first impression of this wonderful country: During the city tour you’ll see the old train station of the White Pass & Yukon Route railroad, the Log Skyscraper, old Log Church and the paddle wheeler SS Klondike. We’ll also show you some residential areas and we’ll stop at the Visitors Reception Centre. On the way to the Takhini Hot Springs we’ll stop at the Wildlife Preserve where you’ll see most of the wildlife seen in the Yukon, such as Moose, Caribou, Bison, Dall Sheep, Big Horn Sheep, Musk Oxen and others. Lunch at Takhini Hot Springs and time for a leisurely swim in the hot waters. After our return to Whitehorse you will participate in a 20 minute sightseeing flight over the Whitehorse area with beautiful views over Lake Labarge and Marsh Lake.
    Day 3. Snowshoeing
    Kluane National Park is our destination for the day and snowshoeing the chosen activity. We’ll drive west on the world famous Alaska Highway and will reach Haines Junction in about two hours. Just outside the town we’ll start our trek on the beautiful Auriol Trail. Since we’ll be slower on our snowshoes we’ll head out at leisure, have a lunch break amidst a gorgeous winter wonderland and return to our van. In Haines Junction we’ll break for coffee and a visit to the Kluane National Park Visitor Centre before heading back to Whitehorse.
    Day 4. Ice Fishing
    Today’s excursion will be to Atlin in northern BC, on the shores of the lake with the same name. This community may only be reached from the Yukon. Weather and snow conditions permitting we’ll walk up Monarch Mountain to a viewpoint over Atlin Lake, Theresa Island and the glaciers of the Coast Mountains. Lunch will be served at the local hotel. After time to explore the picturesque town on your own, we’ll drive back to Whitehorse. We’ll stop at a lake en route to try our luck fishing through the ice before we’ll return to the hotel.
    Day 5. Full Day Snow Mobiling
    This is the day for our snowmobiling adventure: Our van will take us up to Fish Lake, just over half an hour away from the hotel. Here we’ll get our instructions about snowmobile safety and any further instructions we’ll need and off we are across the lake and into some of the most beautiful mountains you may imagine! Lunch will be served on the trail and by late afternoon we’ll return to Whitehorse.
    Day 6. Day Tour to Skagway
    Today we’ll spend an easy day visiting Skagway in Alaska. From Whitehorse we’ll drive south and stop at Emerald Lake for a photo stop even though the normally emerald colored lake is frozen over at this time of the year. Carcross will be our first stop. We’ll visit the small town with predominantly First Nations People and we’ll walk across the railroad bridge and back over the small pedestrian bridge. We’ll then continue along Windy Arm and Tutshi Lake to White Pass, the border between Canada and Alaska. From here we’ll descend to sea level in 23Km / 14 miles. Visit the port and town of Skagway and break for lunch. Weather and conditions permitting we’ll hike to a small lake above the town with a great view over the harbour and the town. By mid afternoon we’ll return to Whitehorse in time for dinner.
    Day 7. Full Day Dog Sledding
    Another highlight of this tour will be this full day dog sledding tour along the Takhini River and into the Ibex Valley west of Whitehorse. First we’ll be introduced to the many dogs and instructions will be given about mushing and safety on the trail. Then we’ll be assigned our team of from 4 to 6 dogs and off we go! We’ll follow well prepared trails and our guides will make sure that we are always in control of our teams. Lunch will be served along the trail when both, we and the dogs need a well deserved break. By late afternoon we’ll return to the kennel for a mug of coffee or hot chocolate before we’ll return to the hotel.
    Day 8. Transfer to Whitehorse Airport
    You’ll start your next adventure in the Yukon or we’ll bring you to the airport in time for your flight home.

    Based upon information compiled by Environment Canada over the past 50 years, Ft. McMurray has more clear nights between September and March than any other present Aurora destination in Canada. Clear skies are essential for seeing the Auroras. Guests have a 90%-plus opportunity to see Aurora activity in Ft. McMurray over a 3 night viewing period

    Day 1 Arrive Fort Mc Murray
    Arrive Ft. McMurray and transfer (included) to your hotel. The balance of the day is at leisure. This evening enjoy a welcome dinner, including orientation, video of optional activities, Aurora slide show, as well as instruction in Constellation photography by Astronomer. After dinner transfer to the viewing building.
